Car hauler work opportunities: How you can get one
A decent job these days are hard to find and many people are actually looking for one in every place they can. Provided that you don't have a specific job preference then you'll definitely find one right away. If you enjoy driving, you might consider being a car hauler. Anyway, what is this sort of job and what do you need to be hired as one?
Many cars are transported from one place to another. There are those that are just too lazy to drive their own cars because the trip can take too long. This is where car haulers come to picture. They might purchase some automobiles at an auction, and want them delivered elsewhere. Some car dealers do the same thing, and want those cars transported to their car lots. If you have the qualifications, and the equipment, you can haul cars, and even boats and smaller items such as skidoo's.
How do you get into the business?
Most companies that want transport, require that you have a Class A CDL, and at least one year hauling experience, or least two years of over the road driving. Since they merely don't want any damage or problems with their package, employers would simply look for qualified candidates.
Among those that you will also need are the right equipment for the job. You can simply use bigger trucks or trailers for bigger number of vehicles to be hauled. If you're looking to haul a car that weighs more than 20,000 pounds then you can opt for a Ford F450 truck. This can easily contain the weight of three cars. The Dodge RAM 3500, is equivalent, and is the one used most often.
Of course, the trailer will also come in handy with regards to this sort of job. You should have at least 3 axles and a fifth wheel. You will need a hitch that is good enough to tow a weight of 23,000 pounds.
You need to consider the type of hauling you're going to do. For those who are experienced in the said field, they would advice covering no more than 500 miles of track. If you drive for greater distance then you'll
surely just be stressing yourself.
What does the job of hauling cars pay? If you haul one car, you'll get an amount close to 300 dollars. If you haul 3 cars in a day then that would earn you $900 and a gross of $200 to $300 a day.
The insurance is also something that you have looked into.
Before heading straight into work, be sure to have thought about your clients. There are number of ways you can do that. Among those ways is to look up for car hauling jobs online at US HIP.
The last thing to consider is to make sure that safety is your greatest concern. Keep an eye for those traffic signals and maintain a safe distance from other cars on the road to avoid accidents. Since you'll be carrying a heavy load, you'll be traveling a longer distance. You will also need to be mindful about the turns that you will take since the size of your truck can not make all of those unscratched.
